Earcell Hines

Earcell was born on August 6, 1942, to Gladys Flanders and James Moore. She was the youngest of three children; her two older sisters, Jean Moore and Mary Moore, all of whom preceded her in death.

Throughout her life, Earcell was known for her resilience, determination, compassion, and devotion to her family and friends. But at the top of all of these was her love and devotion to God's word and unchanging hand, that she held onto until God said, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the lord.”  She confessed her love for Christ at an early age and was committed to her missionary work till her health slowed her down, but even then, she never stopped spreading and praising God's word.

Faith played an important role throughout Earcell's life. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher who found great joy in sharing God's word and helping to guide and inspire others in their faith journey. She was also a faithful member of her church choir, where she proudly sang tenor. Her love for worship and music was evident in the passion and spirit she brought to every song. Through her ministry, service, and fellowship, Earcell touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on her church family and community.

She believed in the value of hard work and lifelong learning, and advent reader of many, many books. She worked for many years with the United States Postal Service before pursuing a career in nursing. Determined to further her education and expand her ability to care for others, she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and one year later returned to school to obtain her Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Earcell was not only a devoted mother of four but also a proud homeowner who worked tirelessly to provide a stable and loving home for her family. After purchasing her home in Englewood, Illinois, she welcomed her mother to live with the family. For many years, the three generations shared a two-flat home where love, support, and family values flourished. It was there that Earcell continued raising her children, caring for her mother, and pursuing her educational goals.

Balancing the demands of motherhood, homeownership, Sunday school teacher, caregiving, and a full-time career, Earcell remained steadfast in her determination to build a better future for her family. Her ability to juggle so many responsibilities with grace and perseverance was a testament to her strength, character, and unwavering commitment to those she loved.

These accomplishments were achieved while raising the last two of her four children, working third shift, and caring for her beloved mother, Gladys, until her passing in 2005. It was then that Earcell decided to return to school to obtain her bachelor’s degree in theology from Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL. Earcell's strength, perseverance, and selfless dedication to her family and those in her care serve as an enduring example of love and sacrifice.

Earcell possessed a quiet strength that carried her through life's challenges and a caring spirit that touched the hearts of family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew her. Her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love created lasting bonds and memories that will be treasured for generations.

Her life was a testament to perseverance, grace, and the importance of family. She found joy in the simple moments, offered support when it was needed most, and left an enduring impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

While her family mourns her passing, they also celebrate a life well lived and the countless blessings she brought into their lives. Her memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the lessons she taught, and the love she leaves behind.

Though words cannot fully capture the impact of her life, those who knew Earcell will cherish the moments they shared with her and carry her memory in their hearts forever.

She leaves behind a legacy of four children, Fornado Moore, LeBaron Moore Sr., David A. Hines, Daveda A. Hines, and one stepson, Dwight A. Moore.

Twenty grandchildren: Angelica C. Moreno of Hollister, California, Melanie L. Johnson of Junction City, Kansas, Tinesha A. Moore, LeBaron L. Moore Jr. of Chicago, Patience Brown of Minesota, Antonio D. Merriweather of Madison, WI., Christina A. Merriweather of IL; Chiquita Johson of Lafayette, IN, David Hines II (Jennifer) of Davenport, Iowa, Hakiem Hines of Davenport, Iowa, Livell Johnson of Chicago, IL, DeAndre Hines of Nebraska who also preceded her in death, Tranisha Postley of Mattson, IL. Sade Hines of Lafayette, IN, Michael McKay of Florida, Malichi & Noah Hines of Wheaton, IL; Sharelle D. Curtis of Chicago, IL, Dametreus A. L. Taylor of Waukegan, IL, and her youngest grandchild, Nycole A. Agee of the U.S. ARMY. She also leaves behind thirty-seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Earcell has a family who loves her deeply and friends who will miss her greatly. While her passing brings sorrow, her life remains a source of gratitude and inspiration.
